CIRCOLINK connects businesses, public authorities, social enterprises, researchers and citizens to make circular furniture the norm in Europe.
The problem
Circular business models in furniture remain small and fragmented. The costs of repair and storage, limited trust in second-hand furniture, a lack of transparency and emerging regulatory pressures keep reuse and refurbishment from reaching the mainstream.
The solution
Instead of testing isolated solutions, CIRCOLINK builds the conditions for circular business models to be adopted and transferred: 7 real-world SHIFTER pilots in 6 countries, backed by behavioural research, skills development, sustainability assessment and replication planning.
Objectives
01
Reveal the system dynamics and behavioural foundations of circular furniture, identifying barriers, opportunities, behavioural patterns and skills gaps across the ecosystem.
02
Transform furniture through scalable circular business models, co-designing, implementing and validating 7 SHIFTERs across different territorial and market contexts.
03
Increase consumer participation and stimulate behavioural change, using engagement tools, behavioural interventions and awareness activities.
04
Advance systemic sustainability assessment for circular business models, combining environmental, social and economic assessment with an AI-based guidance tool.
05
Develop circular competences and re-skilling opportunities, through training, micro-credentials and peer learning for reuse, repair and remanufacturing.
06
Promote territorial replication and a cohesive European transition, with replication roadmaps, regulatory and procurement tools and policy dialogue.
07
Foster social innovation and inclusive circular business models, involving social enterprises and vulnerable groups in co-design, pilots and training.
How it works
01
Map the ecosystem, existing models, behaviours and training needs.
02
Shape the SHIFTER models with stakeholders and behavioural experiments.
03
Test the SHIFTERs in real settings and draw up replication roadmaps.
04
Measure environmental, social and economic impact with AI guidance.
05
Turn results into skills, policy, procurement tools and wider uptake.
